If you want to get into a longterm relationship with someone, what line do you think will work best?

1) "Hi baby, I'm cheap. If you buy me now, you'll get another me for free."

2) "I read some books about you and it tells me to say "hi" and make sure I look you in the...."

3) "Hi. I think we might be able to share some laughs. Mind if we talk for a bit? Get to know each other better."

I think as with most things, you get out what you put in. You might get lucky using line 1, but think of what kind of relationship you're creating. Cheap and forgettable. Line 2 won't connect with anyone. Overthinking and undervaluing the importance of having your own personality is going to make you boring. On the other hand, you need to back up what you're saying with line 3. If you're getting a consumer to commit to a longterm relationship, you better show some love where it counts. In the tummy.

If advertising is a teeter tooter between branding and selling, I'd want a fat kid on the branding side. Like this beautiful round boy...
