simple reminder to creatives

It's easy to get caught up in advertising. Especially if you're talented and you start listening to everyone else's 2 cents. In cases like these, try to remember what got you there in the first place.

“Eventually I discovered for myself the utterly simple prescription for creativity: Be intensely yourself. Don’t try to be outstanding; don’t try to be a success; don’t try to do pictures for others to look at – just please yourself.” ~Ralph Steiner

If it was easy, everyone would do it.

From a series called Creative Truths by Shirley-Ann Dick.

Growing up is easy. Look around, pretty much everyone over a quarter century old has done it. That's why Dockers thrives as a company, they sell khaki dad pants to the world. To me, it takes real talent, determination and "f&@k the status quo" mentality to stay young at heart, cultivate your artistry and make a living doing so. Shangri-La isn't in the Himalayas, it's in your frontal lobe. The shitbergs will never understand this point of view and will do everything in their power to disillusion you. It's because they don't have what you have and deep down - it kills them.

F them.

Stay fearless, stay creative. If you have any real talent, it will pay off.

I use it on a regular basis to solve problems, make jokes, daydream while doing dishes and zone out while at the DMV. The list goes on and on.
